WATER

Clean, reliable water is essential for health, food production, and economic stability—yet billions of people still lack access.

More than 2 billion people do not have safely managed drinking water, and in many communities, women and children spend hours each day walking long distances to collect it.

This daily burden limits opportunity, impacts health, and reinforces cycles of poverty. Rooted In Hope works alongside communities to provide access to clean, reliable water sources. By combining water access, conservation, and filtration, we help families save time, improve health, and build resilience.

FEATURED PROJECT

Water Harvesting
& Catchment

Rooted In Hope partners with communities to expand access to water through practical, locally driven solutions. We invest in rainwater catchment systems—including rooftop collection and community reservoirs—that capture and store rainfall for everyday use.

By bringing water closer to home, these systems create a more reliable supply while reducing the time and physical burden of long-distance water collection.

Water Filtration

Rooted In Hope partners with communities to improve access to safe drinking water through simple, effective filtration solutions. We distribute of household and community-based systems that remove harmful contaminants—making water safer to drink without the need for electricity or costly infrastructure.

In Guatemala, we worked with the Chipop women’s group near Lake Atitlán to provide 25 “EcoFiltro” water filtration systems. Since receiving the filters, families have reported significant health improvements, including a reduction in stomach illness and waterborne disease.

By ensuring water is not only accessible but safe, these solutions help protect health and improve quality of life for entire communities.

My family and my children used to suffer from chronic stomach issues and diarrhea. Now that we have the water filter in our home, those problems have gone away. It has made a huge difference in our daily lives.

Water Conservation

Rooted In Hope works with communities to develop practical, locally relevant solutions that conserve water and strengthen resilience. One of the most effective tools we support is drip irrigation—systems that deliver water directly to plant roots, reducing waste while helping farmers grow more food with fewer resources.

Many smallholder farmers face prolonged droughts and increasingly unpredictable rainfall, leading to crop failure, lost income, and food insecurity. Despite these challenges, most farmers still rely on rain-fed agriculture and lack access to climate-smart solutions.

To address this, Rooted In Hope introduced drip irrigation to families across Kenya and El Salvador. The results were more water, more crop yields, more time, and more income.

By the Numbers:

  • 250+ Drip Irrigation Kits distributed

  • 45+ water harvesting & filtration projects

  • 6,500+ people with improved access to water
