FOOD

Feeding the global population is a growing challenge. For millions of rural families, food security begins in their own fields and gardens. But climate change is disrupting the systems families rely on to feed themselves. Unpredictable rainfall, prolonged drought, and declining soil health make it increasingly difficult for smallholder farmers to produce dependable harvests.
Rooted In Hope advances food security by supporting smallholder farmers with the resources and information they need to increase crop productivity and conserve resources.
Kitchen Gardens
Kitchen gardens help families grow fresh vegetables and fruit close to home, improving daily nutrition while reducing dependence on purchased food. By providing seeds, fruit trees, and training, we empower households and smallholder farmers to cultivate diverse crops that support healthier diets and long-term food security.
These small, household gardens create year-round access to nutritious food while strengthening families’ ability to care for themselves.

FEATURED PROJECTS

Drip Irrigation
Reliable water access is essential for productive agriculture. Our small-scale drip irrigation systems deliver water directly to plant roots, helping farmers conserve water, extend the growing season, and increase crop yields even during dry periods.
By using water more efficiently, farmers can grow more food with fewer resources while preserving time, producing more, and protecting local water supplies.
Chickenomics
Through our “Chickenomics” initiative, families receive chickens along with training in poultry care and small-scale enterprise. The program provides a steady source of eggs and meat for improved nutrition, while surplus production can be sold to generate income for other staple items and household needs.
For many families, chickens provide both reliable nutrition and an opportunity to earn income.
